How Can Periods Be Delayed?

Hello Doctor,

I want to postpone periods for a week as I have to attend a marriage function and it's out of town. Please suggest me any medicine and how I have to take it to postpone the periods. Moreover I'm taking crimson 35 for pcod problem, can this tablets help to postpone the period. Please let me know. Thanks!

Thanks for contacting with your health problem

1. This is a common demand in general practice to postpone menses, to avoid it during functions or traveling, so I usually prescribe my female patients:

i. Tablet Regesterone [noresthisterone] 5 mg: 1 tablet twice daily which should be started at least 3 days before the menses, and continue as long as postponement is desired, but generally not more than 10 to 15 days.

PS. you may consult a Gynecologist regarding the same or for other options like Tablet Ovral L [contraceptive pill and for postponement of menses] since the easiest and best ways to delay your periods involve birth control or other prescription medicines.

ii. krimson 35 [ethinyl estradiol] is an oral contraceptive pill prescribed in PCOS for regulation of menstruation and if already on this pill, one need not to take any other form of contraception, or medicine for postponement of menses. [still consult with your attending physician or take an opinion of a Gynecologist]
