Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was diagnosed with costochondritis 5 months ago and I use a CPAP for sleep apnea. It s been used irregularly due to AP exams. A while ago, I started experiencing the more extreme pain that I had before diagnosis, and I could barely breathe without the pain increasing. I m not sure what to do or when this condition will let up as I read somewhere that chronic costochondritis cases last up to a year. So what should I do to make recovery faster and in case of emergency pain?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hello,
For costochondritis you can apply NSAID gels like Diclofenac or Ketoprofen for local application. If there is no improvement then you can take NSAID tablets which are available over-the-counter like Ibuprofen. You can also go for physiotherapy if it occurs very often.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Nishad BN
