How Can Pain In The Neck Be Treated?

My doctor prescribed Baclofen 10mg as needed for muscle spasms. My complaint is pain in my neck which is from arthritis. From reading about Baclofen this does not seem like a good RX for my problem. And if I take only as needed will it really help the pain?
