How Can Pain Behind The Leg And Knee Be Treated?

Two days ago, my two large dogs were on a lease, they took off running and I tumbled several times in the grass. I had pain in my knee (and other locations as well. Yesterday, I was doing yard work and I felt a pop in the back of my left knee, I had instant pain on the outside of the knee and when I rotate my left foot inward I have pain up the back of my leg. I am 64 years old and in relatively good health.

Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

It’s is due to some minor contusions and sprain and it is quite common after physical activities you have described.
As of now you can take analgesics like tramadol for pain relief. Apply warm compression and immobilise the affected leg for four to five days.
If pain persist despite all these, you have to consult an orthopaedic and get evaluated. In that case you may require an MRI scan also.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
