How Can Pain After A Spine Fracture Be Managed?

My grandma is 86 years old and last week Wednesday was seen in the ER because she woke up and could not move. They diagnosed here with a compression fracture in her spine, then sent her home and prescribed her with tramadol. Since then she has not been herself both mentally and physically. She is complaining now that she is in lots of pain and cannot move again. Should I call an ambulance?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

You can call an ambulance.

A corticosteroid injection may be needed for the moment.

Surgery is the definitive treatment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka,
