How Can Osteoporosis And Elevated Cholesterol Levels Be Treated?

I go to a chiropractor for adjustments and am a very healthy older female over 74. I am very active and do have some osteoporasis. I do not take pills for anything except now in the fall zinc, Vitamin C & Echnaceau in one table form. I had exrays of my neck this week due to a pain generated by a bad neck showing my cartilage and that in the next area slipping out. My cholestrol ad all the things connected with it are in very good range the last blood work - I try to get at least 1-2 years apart if I can. Now the chiropractor says I need to add more water to my system and Calcium &D/3 which I did take about 2 years ago and quit. Now they want me to start on Triglyceride Omega-3 Fish Oil (I have a hard time wanting to pop pills at all) and my blood records are very goo as mentioned. Cholestrol and all. This one supplement states Total Omega-3s (as Triglycerides) 950 mg EPA 430 MG DHA 390 mg MEB-3s (ADDITIONAL Omega-3s 130 mg. One a day on the label but the docs said 2 twice a day. What will something like this due to my blood count that is in very good range for quite sometime now. And, with an additional prescription of a good Bone reneration program I was on with them about 3-4 years ago already that is vegetable consisting of Broccoli etc., et.al. of Calcium and Vit.D-3. I don t like adding something into my body if it is going to set off my cholestrol and other fatty particles into the blood that could cause heart attack or stroke. I did have Rheumatic fever in the 1st grade, a bad case of it, but no side affects at all to this date 77 years of age. My husband had the same type disease in his one of the 1st-4th grade years as well and developed valve disease and died a year ago. My health is very good and I am concerned about this situation. I know older does not absorb meds like younger but this is an awful lot if I took 2 tablets 2 x s a day. But the label says 1 /day unless otherwise prescribed. Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

You can take NSAIDS twice a day for 5 days, you can take ANTACIDS twice a day for 5 days. Apply Diclofenac spray on affected site. Apply warm water bag on affected site. If not resolved then consult your orthopedic surgeon. Do X-ray of affected part and do physiotherapy, it is also helpful.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
