Hi there,

Cipro has one main side effect, which is that it can lead to tendon rupture, especially in the Achilles tendon. However, it is used quite commonly. The more important thing here is that your husband is a diabetic with osteomyelitis. In my experience, it's extremely difficult for diabetics with osteomyelitis to clear their infections. More often than not, they often need amputation. I would recommend that your husband be placed on IV antibiotics, and I'd also recommend that an orthopedic surgeon, vascular surgeon, or podiatrist evaluate the area where the osteomyelitis is.

I hope I have answered your question. Feel free to contact me if you have any further questions.
