How Can Osteomyelitis Be Treated?

I am in the hospital with osteomyelitis. I broke my left leg in three places a year and a half ago and yesterday had sixth surgery yesterday. The doctor placed a fixator on outside of leg and that was three weeks ago. He now took it off and is putting leg in cast from foot to top of thigh tomorrow. My problem is my leg has a place that is warm and hurts really bad. He says it's nothing but I'm afraid of putting an infected hurting leg in cast.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Your doctor would not likely put an infected leg in a cast. However, if you do get a cast and the pain increases or you develop fever then you need to go to emergency right away.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
