Hi ! I have gone through your question and I understand your concern .
If I were your treating doctor after treatment with syntroid for some times I would do again some examination : Measurement of the serum TSH ,Ultrasonografi to meassure the size and number of modules and a Fine-Needle Aspiration Biopsy (FNAB) to confirm type of nodules .
Also syntroid can cause hyperthyrosis.
Normally what we sugest patient like you , when the nodules give you problem swolling are two choises :
-Radioactive iodine , it can shrink nodules that cause problems with breathing or swalloing, but your nodules may come back again after treatment .We use this when there are some nodules to prevent the risk of intervention in patients with a number of nodules .
-Surgery -Remove all the nodules but have some risk that you should discuss with the treating doctor .

Hope these were helpfull
