How Can Nausea Due To Overeating Be Treated?

My 10 year old grandson ate an entire bag of cotton candy from local fun park. He ate a partial of the bag while there and within 30 minutes he ate a meal of crackers, chicken salad, pasta salad and gatorade for dinner. shortly thereafter, without my permission, he ate the remainder of cotton candy. when time to take him home to his mom an hour later, he was feeling nauseated. He has not thrown up, he has had normal poop, still feeling sick and rotating from nausea and sever head ache. Gave small amount of coke through straw to help, but no good. Now he is feeling worse with same symptoms. Has been feeling this way overall for 2.5 hrs. What do I do?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Unfortunately, there is nothing that will help your grandson other than letting time and his GI system digest all this food, much of which is, of course, difficult to digest, which, along with the sugar, is likely causing his headache and nausea.

I would recommend that you not give any more coke, if he is thirsty you can give him water and hopefully this will help to teach him not to eat so much of these foods at once.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Aaron Branch, General & Family Physician
