How Can Nausea After Taking Doxycycline Hyclate Be Treated?

Ok Dr. here it is: I am on a Chinese herbal intake for a once debilitating tinnitus which is slowly going away. Acupuncture is the only way with this doctor. He is unfortunately out of town. I had a small karsanoma removed from my inner thigh. It never healed properly and now taking DOXYCYCLINE HYCLATE 100mg. It s killing my liver (nausia) and now am stuck having to take these awful pills for 6 more days. Too bad you guys cannot work with the Eastern methods. Apparently this anti is for VD, etc.!!!

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Tinnitus is common issue and most casuses are benign and temporary. However it this lasts for longer period then it should be evaluated. Tinnitus can occur due to causes like chronic ear infection, perforated eardrum, Eustachian tube dysfunction, Meniere's disease, TMJ disorders, Acoustic Neuroma etc. Tinnitus is not a disease in itself but it is a symptom that indicates that there is some underlying illness. I would suggest you to consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like Audiometry, X-ray MRI can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly. In case if ringing does not resolve then you can be advised medicines like Tricyclic Anti-depressant like Amitryptiline, anti anxiety medication like Alprazolam, as well as multivitamin supplements can be advised.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
