Thanks for choosing HCM,

Bad breath generally occurs in early morning bcoz while sleeping at night salivary flow decreases and that cause bacteria to grow and responsible for early morning bad breath....

Do brushing twice and in night time before going to sleep its mandatory....

You can use chlorhexidine mouthwash twice..

Drink plenty of water....

Visit Dentist and scaling is required for you...

Bad breath can occur from any other systemic diseases...if its not cure after following the above mentioned remedies then you have to consult with ENT specialist.....

Hope this will help you...

Wish you good health....

Dentist, Periodontics Dr. Palvi 's  Response
thanks for the query...
bad breath can be due to oral, ENT or medical problems...
visit your dentist for complete oral examination... sometime, grossly carious tooth is the source of foul smell... in that case it will require restorations...
or due to presence of plaque and calculus... and inflamed gums and deep pockets... in that case it will require proper scaling and root planing...

brushing twice daily with pea sized tooth paste will help... make sure that you brush your teeth AFTER MEALS instead of before meals... rinse after every meal... also use tongue cleaners... tongue may harbor micro organisms on its surface and can be the source of bad breath...

if still persists, consult general physician to rule out any metabolic disease... consult ENT specialist also...

hope it will help you...
take care...

Bad smell is generally due to improper oral hygiene.
It can also be the signs of an infection of the stomach or intestines.
Improper eating patterns such as eating heavy meals that are high in protein and sugar .
Take plenty of water, herbal drinks, high fiber diet.
The best remedy to get rid of such bad smell is to drink glass of warm water with honey and lemon first thing every morning.
Maintain oral hygiene and use tongue cleaner regularly.
Use mouthwash twice daily.

First of all it should be understood that malodor is caused by many reasons like decayed teeth, poor oral hygiene, gastric problems,Sinusitis, Tonsilitis, liver disorder, diabetis, smoking, alcohol consumption, tobacco chewing. You should consult a dentist to check for any problem in your oral cavity. If the problem is due to calculus and plaque it can be removed by scaling and polishing of your teeth. Flossing of teeth and tongue cleaning using tongue scraper should be done daily. Use a chlorhexidine mouth rinse twice daily for 3 weeks.

Dentist, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Dr. Manish Gupta's  Response
Bad breath can be due to a number of causes like :-
Local factors like oral hygiene (Improper brushing technique, food lodgment on the tooth surfaces, smoking, etc) or
Systemic factors like Diabetes, Gastric refluxes resulting from dietary components rich in garlic, onions etc.
The first thing is to visit your Dentist and get the cause of your condition diagnosed. Also get a professional cleaning (scaling/Oral Prophylaxis) done. Maintain good oral hygiene by simple procedures of brushing twice a day, rinsing and flossing after every meal. Start using a mouthwash regularly and drink plenty of water thru the day.
Take care....

there are varied reasons for bad breath .first of all start rinsing your mouth with colgate plax. Or thermokind mouth wash in 1:1 will definately benefit but thats not the end of story. Go to a nearby dentist get your scaling and polishing done. Eat healthy drink plenty of fluids avoid junk food.Brush twice daily not only your teeth but also gums and inner aspect of cheek and tongue.and at last if your dentist feels like he/she would refer you to have a physicians opinion.

Hi Meera,
Bad breath is called as Halitosis. There are many causes for it like
a) Poor oral hygiene
b) Throat infection, tonsillitis
c) Frequent cold, respiratory infection
d) Stomach ulcers, improper diet
e) Diabetes
f) Inadequate intake of water.
we need to rule out the rest apart from taking good oral hygiene measures, as all these areas have a common outlet that is mouth.
I suggest you have a physician's opinion to rule out the other concerns.
Dentally speaking a thorough sub-gingival cleaning is recommended for you.
This will reduce the bad-breath.
Measures you can take at home are:
1. 3-4 ltrs of water per day
2. Twice daily brushing
3. frequent rinsing of mouth esp after meals
4. chewing on sugar-free gum(orbit/wrigleys) after food for15-20min.
5. avoiding gas producing foods like legumes, onion, garlic, cabbage etc
Thanks & Take Care
