I am currently 33 weeks and 3 days pregnant today I had my hemoglobin checked and it was a 8.4 which was a drop from what it was before a 9.5, I take a vitamin that focuses on iron, I eat plenty of iron filled food. yet it continues to drop should I be worried.

During pregnancy due to water retention, increased requirements and haemodilution some anemia might occur. However it is compensated by absence of periods and increased intake in the form of supplements. Kindly make sure you are taking iron folic acid and vitamin b12 tablets as all three are required for hb. Also eat a protein rich diet. Your hb is low it should be above 12-13. You can eat the tablet twice daily. Do not eat it with milk or alongside calcium tablets as iron and calcium will not be absorbed if taken together. Eat it alongwith food.... In case it further reduces you need to get infections for iron etc. But first need to check its iron or vit b12 deficiency. In last resort they might give you blood transfusions just before your edod to raise hb.
