How can low grade fever be treated while on anti seizure medication?

My sixteen year old son takes medication for seizures and he has a rare form of rickettsia for which he takes an active form of vitamin D. I am concerned about the flu going around and, low and behold, he has starting running a low grade fever (99.1 F under the arm). Earlier, at about 9:30 p.m., he had chills but the fever did not start until after he was asleep. We live in Alabama, which has had hospitals on lockdown due to the flu. What should I do? If it is not the flu, I am scared of exposing him to it a an ER or the doctors office?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Don't worry. You can take paracetamol, and cefadroxyl. Consult your physician for prescription.

Don't drink cold drink, cold water, ice cream, chocolate, and pastries.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
