How Can Loss Of Smell And Taste Be Treated?

For years my smell and taste have been in and out. Most of the time I can not taste or smell. Breathing through my right nostril is labored. I use nose sprays, and allergy meds. I have had antibiotics and steroids which help for short periods of time. Can this problem be solved?

Loss of smell and taste seems to be due to side effects of certain medications, sinusitis, oral infection and could be nerve dysfunction like glossopharyngeal nerve. I would suggest you to maintain proper hygiene and take proper diet. Do warm saline gargles and visit neurologist once and take medications which lower down autoimmune or nervous system disorder. Doctor may also refer you to ENT specialist. Bad smell may also occur due to residual infection. Give them diet rich in zinc supplements as that will recover there taste.
