Hello, I have been diagnosed with Lichen Sclerosis and am having quite a bit of difficulty recently. The skin is very fragile even with use of Estrace Cream, Vaseline and other creams I have tried. However right now the clitoral hood is almost non existent in that the area is all growing together. But I have a few tears and I ve been using ice paks, Vaseline and drying the area with a cool hair dryer. I m diabetic and suffered a spinal cord injury 9 years ago so I have a good bit of nerve damage in the area also. Can you offer other suggestions for treating the tears? I m disabled and cannot do a soaking tub.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
As per your case history of lichen sclerosis, my treatment advice is -
1. Don't scratch the lesion as it may worsen the condition.
2. Apply a Tacrolimus 0.03 %ointment twice daily on it.
3. Other treatment options are oral and topical steroid given only after consulting a dermatologist.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
