How can labyrinthitis be treated?

I have had supposed inner ear labrinthitis diagnosed over 2 years ago. I took Meclazine pen, reduced valium, + only have had maybe12-20 debilitating episodes since. Mild episodes require no medications. Currently have debilitating vertigo, slight dizzy, nausea, extremely sensitive to sound and light. Almost all symptoms lesson when I close my eyes. I don t have headaches. Meclazine and generic dramamine are giving no relief. I am miserable.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.

I have reviewed your query and here are my thoughts.
Labirynthitis can well be diagnosed by a combination of a CT scan and MRI of the Mastoids and also gives better diagnosis in a correct way to give a direction to the overall management.
Since your symptoms are lesser on closing the eyes, the ophthalmic cause has also to be ruled out.
Hence take an opinion of an ENT as well as that of an Ophthalmologist.
Avoid the investigations and enhancing factors to have a better control. Prevention is better than cure.
You may need some exercises to control vertigo that an ENT Surgeon can tell you.
Audiometry to know about any effect on hearing is also needed.
Since Meclizine and Dramamin are not helping you may be given another medications after discussion with your Doctors.

I hope this answer helps you.
