Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have 4 kidneys stones which are in my left kidney. There are two 7mm stones, one is 1.5 mm and one is 3mm. How do they get removed since they’ve been in there for 1 year and have gotten larger in that period of time. A substantial amount of blood was found in my urine and I am starting to feel discomfort in my back and both sides above my hips. Since this is my 4th time having stones, my history is that the stones do not pass very well. What and how should they be removed, my urologist is on vacation for a week and I’m not sure if and when I will need to consider this as an emergency.
I can understand your concern about your kidney stones. You need to take plenty of water in case you do not have any blood pressure related disease associated with. Second after consulting your doctor you can also include any of the alkalizer medication with fluids.
The blood in your urine is suggestive of either the passage of stone or the infection and pain is also because of the same reason. You must take a dose of antibiotics till you consult your doctor. If I would have been your doctor, I would have recommended Ofloxacin drug twice daily.
You do not need to go for an invasive surgery, there are many non-surgical procedures like Lithotripsy available that are used to crush the kidney stones without any invasion.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
