General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,
Thanks for trusting Healthcaremagic!
I have gone through your query and I can understand your concerns.

Keloids are a kind of exaggerated scars that arise from the site where the skin is damaged, such as by a surgical site, burn, and acne.
Treatment is always challenging because high chance of recurrence.
I suggest you to consult a plastic surgeon and the following are the various treatment options. The surgeon will go for the appropriate option depending on the size of the lesion.
1.Cryotherapy: If the size of the lesion is small you can go for cryotherapy in which ultra low temperature is used to shrink the keloid. Cost might be a problem.
2.Corticosteroids:- Intralesional injection of corticosteroid drugs like triamcinolone in to the keloid can help to shrink the lesion. It is common and relatively inexpensive option, but recurrence is a problem.
3.Surgery:- Surgical excision of the keloid can be done if the size is relatively large.
4.Radiation:- can be used as a last resort in some rare cases, many surgeons do not prefer this method.

You can try the following measures to prevent further development of new keloids.
1.She has high chance of developing keloid again so try to avoid burns, body piercing and skin injuries.
2.Proper wound care like covering a new wound with petroleum jelly and topical antibiotics is necessary.

Hope I have answered your query.
Wishing you good health.

Regards.
