How Can Itchy Rashes Caused By Alendronate Sodium Be Treated?

I have had reactions to a pill I have been taking once a week for nine weeks..it is Alendronate Sodium 70mg. I have had Hives, swollen legs, ankles. very itchy skin, and now today a swollen upper lip... My Dr. told the Nurse to tell me to take Benadryl every 6 hrs till medication is out of my system... does this sound ok???

Alendronate Sodium is also called Fosamax.
Fosamax can cause irritation, inflammation, or ulcers of the esophagus which may sometimes bleed.
Taking Fosamax exactly as your doctor prescribes can help lower your chance of having esophagus problems.
If you get chest pain, new or worsening heartburn, or have trouble or pain when you swallow, immediately stop taking Fosamax.
