How Can Insomnia Be Managed Without Taking Clonazepam, Melatonin Or Any Other Medication?

I m a 68 yr old male in good overall physical condition but suffer from fairly severe insomnia...I have tried all the suggested holistic cures...no blues screens before bed, quiet cool room,no caffeine after 12 noon ,yoga etc etc but find I only get a decent nights sleep by taking a half a tab of Clonazapam & Ambien ( I don t like to take full doses) & on alternating nights with a 10 Milligram time release of Melatonin or a Tylenol PM or a uniosom...never together ( except for the half tabs of Ambien & Clonazapam but on alternating nights...thoughts?..I mam a working writer/playwright and will probably keep working until I m 90..;-)...but am not effective if tired..Thank you...hcg

. Well, insomnia may be difficult to treat, but there are some methods which can be used. Treatment options include behavior and lifestyle changes, medicines, and complementary medicines. You need to change your dietary habits and these include changing your sleep area or schedule, watching what and when you eat and drink, and being more active. It's also important to keep regular bedtimes and wake times-7 days a week-and to try to avoid taking naps during the day. Prescription sleep medicines amy also help and include diazepam and similar medications.Melatonin is supplement which may be of help as well. In severe cases special testing is needed.
