In December 2014 I had a shunt implant which was adjusted several times now the neurosurgeon tells me there is nothing more he can do. I have a hard time walking and no balance. I,ve tried balance training but see no results I am86 years old and wonder if the weather has an influence on my condition or my age. You may be suffering from normal pressure hydrocephalus with shunt placement. Shunt operations do not work for everyone with NPH (normal pressure hydrocephalus).
Many people who undergo a shunt operation, have substantial symptom relief. In some, the symptoms improve and then start to worsen again.
Others benefit little, if at all. So, family support is very important in day-to-day life. Please consult your neurosurgeon for further information.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu
