How Can I Prevent Vaginal Infections?

Please how do I cure vaginal infections totally. I have used some drugs before now and it had stopped but suddenly it came back again.
Also is it sexually transmittable. I mean is it possible for my husband to be infected through me. Or should I stop having sex until I am fully cured.

Hello
Thanks for writing to us with your health concern.
Firstly, what kind of infection are you talking about ?
There are scores of vaginal infections, the common ones are bacterial vaginosis, candidiasis and trichomoniasis.
Some of these are sexually transmitted.
Get a complete STD screening for yourself and your husband.
Next, do not use any medicated soaps / cleansers /gels / douches etc.
Just clean the private parts with warm water and pat dry gently with a cotton / linen towel.
Do not rub, scrub, vigorously.
Wear clean cotton undergarments and change frequently.
Use clotrimazole dusting powder and keep the area clean and dry.
Do not stay inside wet swimwear for long.
Get your blood sugars tested.
Have protected sex till you are cured.
Take lots of curd, yoghurt and probiotics.
Get a vaginal swab taken to identify the exact organism.
All the best
Please feel free to discuss further.
