General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi thank you for querry.
Acoording to NICE
guidelne if patient age greater than 80 years his BP should be 150/90
in old age 1st line is calcium channel bloker she is using nefidipine or sofvasc
Add An ACEI like ENALAPRIL 5mg or Ramipril 2.5 mg Once a day alng with adalat retard.
if not controlled than add a tbiazide diutetics like Chlorthalidone 12.5 mg once a day.
but if thiazide diuretic is add must check serum potasium level.
if diutetic therapy fail or not tolerated than add a alpha or beta blocker drug like metoprolol or bisoprolol.
hope the answer will help you to asses her condition.
wish her a good health.
