How Can Hypertension Be Treated?

I am a 60 year old female on lipitor. My blood pressure continues to be 154 over 105 or higher. I know this is high but do I need to be concerned about a heart attack or stroke or keep taking the kitties and not worry about it. My dad had his 1st major heart attack at 40 and died at 42 of a heart attack and his mother died at 42 of a heart attack and his 3 brothers died before 58. My maternal grandpa also died of a heart attack before age 40 and my 3 brothers younger than me all have high blood pressure and the 1 10 years younger had a stent. (But he is over weight) I also have high cholesterol
