How Can High Blood Pressure Be Treated?

I continue have high blood pressure ranging from 159/95 to 146/88. I am overweight with diabetes. I take multiple medications and it doesn t seem to come down to a normal blood 120/80. I have had two SVT episodes in a year and half. Currently wearing a event monitor for 30 days. II just started adding 30 minutes exercise 4-5 times week and hope to increase this by 5 minutes each month. My diabetes is controlled, but what can I do to have a normal blood pressure?

Hello,
Thank you for trusting HCM

Since you are already on medications for hypertension, you can try DASH (dietary approaches to stop hypertension). DASH diet plan includes low sodium diet, rich in fruits, vegetables, and lean meat. Avoid high-fat diet. Exercise regularly. If your blood pressure does not fall below 130/80 after trying these dietary changes and exercise, then the dose of antihypertensive need to be increased or newer antihypertensive medication should be added.

Hope this answers your question
