How Can Heavy Menstrual Bleeding Be Treated?

I have fibroids that made me have heavy and long periods.I was put on depo provera.I only got one shot, because it made me bleed for over two months non stop. Then I was put on norethindrone 0.35.I have been taking them at the same time every day for seven weeks now.My cycle has been irregular every since I have been taking them.I would bleed for a few days, then it would go off for no more than two days. Now I have been bleeding for 10 days non stop. How long will it take for the pills to make me have regular cuddles?

Thanks for contacting with your health concern

1. As you are under treatment probably from a gynecologist, thus remain under her regular supervision and observation, I at most can let you know about symptomwise approach:

. check with TVS [trans vaginal sonography] and pap smear test [to check with fibroid size and cancer of cervix]
. check your Hb%, WBC, Bleeding disorder profile, Thyroid Function Test.
.In the meantime to control bleeding take drugs having Astringent properties like Ashokarishta, Usheerassav, Kaumaryassav (Baidyanath), Styplon (Himalaya), and take Amalaki juice 15ml with brown sugar in morning.
PS. If size is > 10 drugs or treatment will have a conservative and not curative role (you will get relief from symptoms, but again things will get controlled but size will keep on increasing).

2. I would definitely advise you to be evaluated by your Doctor. He/she can consider Hormone Therapy (pills) and if bleeding is not controlled despite the medications, you might need to consider Hysterectomy.

3. Avoid mustard oil, hot spices (Garam masala), too cold-slimy-citrus food, pickles, curd, buffalo milk, constipating, hot and heavy food
