How Can Heart Palpitations Be Treated?

I'm 19, and hopefully in good health, however, I'm starting to notice that sometimes, quite randomly, my heart will just kick into overdrive and beat really fast. They never usually last longer than 5 minutes, and I can get them even when I'm just lazying around and doing nothing. What do they mean?

Hi,

It may be due to idiopathic or organic causes. Panic attacks, caffeine drinks or alcohol intake or arrhythmia or anaemia or electrolyte imbalance or congenital heart defects like ASD, PDA etc.

Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is. Avoid caffeinated drinks, avoid smoking, avoid alcohol intake. Do yoga or meditation.

If symptoms not improved please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
