Genital herpes is caused by herpes simplex virus [HSV], and since it is symptomatic [painful with weeping] so one has to exclude concomitant infection with genital warts caused by HPV [human papilloma virus] and since [at present] there is no known test in men to know about the same thus one cannot know about the duration and from whom you ve contracted [so it is recommended to have regular checkup with your Physician] 2. If symptoms are mild, then to ease symptoms: i. Drink plenty of fluids to dilute your urine, which will make passing urine less painful. ii. continue with the salt bath and keep the affected area clean which will help prevent blisters from becoming infected and help it heal quicker. iii. Applying Vaseline, or an anesthetic cream to the blisters will reduce the pain when you pass urine. PS. Avoid sharing your personal items and keep separate shaving blades for face, underarm, and pubic hairs. . Do not touch them as this may spread the infection to surrounding areas. 3.
