How Can Fungal Infection Be Treated?

I have a deep fugal infection that is affecting my joints, soft tissue, cartilage, and bones. I have been suffering with this infection for almost three years due to the fact that I live in a very small town and have to drive hours to any specialists. I have been on Nystatin for 8 months or more but it is barely holding it off, and it is no cure. The inflammation is so severe, the infection is actually eating away at my jaw, skull, and muscles and bones throughout my body. I have yet to come in contact with a doctor that has little or any experience with fungal infections. What they do know and have experienced is limited. I am at a loss and need help. What medication or test could I suggest to my doctors? It is only getting worst and their treatment is not working. Btw, this not just effect me, but my children and husband as well. We moved and burned all of our things over this. Please help.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The best possible solution will be to go ahead with a biopsy of the specimen and subject to culture and sensitivity testing.
Once it is available - then the appropriate sensitive anti-fungal needs to be taken for at least 6 months.

You will require an dermatology consult regarding this.
