How Can Frequent Urination Be Treated?

My husband and I are 65 and we are having heat wave last week and continues this week in 90s. We are taking in more fluids to stay hydrated but last couple of nights we both had frequent urination. He has low sodium issue. How do we stay hydrated and reduce urination frequency at night?

Hello and welcome to Ask A Doctor service. I reviewed your query and here is my answer.
Are you hypertensive and taking diuretics? If yes then it can be due to that. Or it could be due to urinary tract infection which will be associated with fever and pain.
If both are no, then it is due to your increased fluid intake. Your husbands low sodium can be explained by over hydration. However to decrease frequent urination at night, you need to take little amount of fluid or no fluid at all after evening. Avoid all the fluids after evening. This will help.
Hope i answered your question. Feel free to ask if you have any questions. Thanks.
