How Can Flank Pain Due To A Kidney Stone Be Treated?

Help.......I have come down with a kidney stone( at least I HOPE it s just ONE). Flank pain on the left side since 9:30am yesterday morning. Drinking plenty of water but last night I ended up in the ER. All they did there was do a CT scan verifying I had a stone and gave me a pain killer med and sent me home after 4-5 hours there. The pain kind of wained and I thought maybe the stone had dropped into the bladder. Well....more flank pain and dunno what to do.

The details of the CT scan and the size of the stone is not mentioned. The management depends upon the size and type of the stone.
Having plenty of fluids helps in flushing out small stones and also preventing further stone formation. I would suggest you to consult urologist with the detailed investigations report for further evaluation. Depending upon the sized of the stones, you may be offered lithotripsy or open surgery. If the stones are very small, only observation may be required without any intervention.
If the pain is severe, I would suggest an ER visit for getting analgesics. You can consult the attached urologist from there itself.
