Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I take tramadol for fibromyalgia. I have taken 2 pills a day regularly for years. I was told it was not addictive and there were no side affects. I have tried many many other medications and treatments. Nothing helped. My doctor now tells me I should stop taking it. This is my first day and I’m a mess. I hurt all over. I could not fall asleep last night until 3 am. I slept until 11am. I was up a couple hours then fell back to sleep at 2 until 6 pm. I have the chills extremely cold then extremely hot. I have no energy I have to force myself to get up or move. I only lay on the couch. Help.
The pain of fibromyalgia can be debilitating, but unfortunately, there is no cure for fibromyalgia. But the symptoms can be managed by various physical therapies and medicines. Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor has been seen to be effective in controlling the symptoms of fibromyalgia. You can discuss it with your physician. You should also try cognitive behavioral therapy. You can consult a chiropractor for physical therapies which will help to relax the muscles.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Nazma.amman
