How Can Excessive Hair Growth On The Chin And Neck Be Treated?

Hi. I am a 57-year-old female. Two years ago, I started getting hair on my chin and neck. Now I must shave every day. My doctor said it could be hormonal, but I just had a lot of bloodwork done and everything is normal. I checked side effects for drugs I take--levothyroxine, diltiazem, lisinopril--but apparently they don t cause this. I take melatonin, but this side effect was not mentioned. What can I do?

hello there..
Hair growth on face anf neck area in postmenopausal women is mainly due to decrease in hormone estrogen.Estrogen is responsible for making facial hair look light and thin in females before menopause but after menopause this hormone's level decrease and this result in male pattern hair growth.
You can take estrogen pills to compensate your natural hormone level but this has its own side effects ..so i will suggest you to meet ur gynecologist and ask him/her to help you out.
you can also use other hair removal methods if you dont want to go for hormonal treatment..
thank you.
