How Can Excessive Bleeding After Medical Abortion Be Treated?

Hello doc,
I had medical abortion 3 weeks back. But bleeding is not stopping. I don't have heavy bleeding, it's like normal.
I went for scanning, reports shows rpoc. When consulted my doc she told there is very little bit of tissue left. It's not coming out that's why I am bleeding. I don't have pain, fever, smelly discharge or heavy bleeding. So she prescribed duoluton l and told to come after 1week. I wanted know how long ll it take to stop bleeding after taking the tablets? And what about left over inside? She told it ll get drained inside not to worry. If bleeding ll not stop even after 1week then have to go for DandC. I am afraid of DandC. Is it necessary to do it? I am totally confused and worried.

Thanks for raising your concern

1. since you have already taken an opinion and examination of a Gynecologist thus she must have taken due consideration in taking up your physical examination and exclude infection/hemorrhage as complication of medical abortion [otherwise hospitalization is necessary: (blood transfusion/surgical aspiration)]

2. It is normal to experience some vaginal bleeding for approximately 2 weeks after abortion, however If bleeding is there for more than 3 weeks check with your Hb%, WBC, bleeding disorder profile, serum T3,T4, & TSH

3. If even after there is no relief with general measures and tablets one has to go for D & C [and biopsy] followed by hormone therapy and if bleeding persists after D & C, Hysterectomy is the choice [but if you are in reproductive age group] ask for other alternatives and since your age is not mentioned check for malignancy
