How Can Elevated Blood Pressure Level Be Treated?

I just started amlodipine 5 mg tablet today as pere new doctor...took it at 10AM today, it s now 9 00pm and my blood pressure is skyrocketing again. Can I take another half a tablet to get BP down under 170 tonight? I m miserable...on fire, head pounding and buzzing, can t relax and worried that BP will just keep going up during the night to stroke level. Had been taking Atenolol 100mg daily and was just switched to amlodipine yesterday....and it ain t workin to keep BP down below 150 as new doc said it would. Will another half tablet 2 1/2 mg help get me through the night? Thanks for the help....I hope it comes soon...PLEASE!!!! It s the weekend and my new doc office is closed so I won t be able to get to him till next week....I just can t wait that long, and I ll have to go to the emergency room otherwise if I don t hear from You. Loirayne Dickerson in Tacoma WA....
