How Can Elevated SGPT Be Controlled?

Hi, I have friend who is due to renew his contract as a seafarer, his laboratory showed normal results except for an elevated SGPT.... He is asking me what medications can he take? I already advised him to do a lifestyle modification since he smokes cigarette and drinks alcohol occasionally along with lifestyle modification such as diet and exercise....Thanks a lot!

Hello,

You have to stop smoking and alcohol intake.

Use tablet pantoprazole.

Regular exercise and intake of green leafy vegetables may useful.

If SGPT or SGOT did not come to normal levels get it done ultrasound abdomen and liver biopsy.

If symptoms not improved please consult your gastroenterologist he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
