How Can Eczema Be Treated?

HELLO, I AM HAVING A FLARE UP OF ECZEMA . I AM ON A TRIP AND HAVE TRIED TO USE MY DOCTORS SKYPE PRACTICE BUT HAVE HAD NO LUCK. I HAVE AN IG MARKER FOR SKIN ALLERGIES SO I AM VERY FAMILIAR WITH SKIN PROBLEM IN GENERAL BUT THIS KIND OF OUT BREAK ONLY STARTED ABOUT A YEAR AGO AND ONLY SHOWS UP AROUND THE EYES AND THE CORNERS OF MY MOUTH. I WAS TREATED WITH EUCRISA AND IT WORKED WELL ON THE EYELIDS AND AROUND MY EYES BUT I HAVE SINCE DEVELOPED A REACTION TO IT AS WELL. IS THERE A SIMPLE OVER-THE-COUNTER TREATMENT THAT COULD SOUTH THE IRRITATION UNTIL I GET BACK TO MY DOCTOR? THANKYOU

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Most flare up of eczema can be treated with topical steroids and the copious use of an emollient (medication to keep the skin moist).

Over the counter topical steroids would not be as strong as prescription steroids but you can try one of them to see if it helps eg hydrocortisone.
Frequently bathing or applying water, may help. The emollient can be applied within 3 mins of bathing before the water dries off.

I hope this helps
