How Can Dry Cough And Cold Be Treated?

hello doctor
my 4 years old daughter is having dry cough and cold for over a week, she was coughing whole night , getting up about 5 times a night either to vomit or to drink water after coughing. doctor only advised to give her Txylic syrup on phone. two days ago , took her to dr and he gave her amoxycyline syrup. since then she has loose motions, high fever most of the times and last night couldnt sleep at all, waking after every half an hour and coughing continously. is antibiotic doing any good for her or creating more problems. how to make her better?

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hi, by your history it looks like your daughter is suffering from acute upper respiratory tract infection, since your doctor has already started her on amoxicillin it will take atleast 36 to 48 hours to act and loose stools if one of the side effect of amoxicillin, so my advice is to give her probiotics, and in case if it doesn't improve in next 2 days please consult your doctor for change of antibiotics...
