Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Hypothyroidism can cause thickening and dryness of skin. Do a thyroid function and start on thyroxine to correct your thyroid status. You can use good quality moisturizing cream to avoid dryness and scaling of skin. Also drink plenty of water and have diet rich in fruits and vegetables as antioxidants in fruits and vegetables makes your skin healthier. You can take vitamin E tablets like "evion" once daily as it improves the general health of skin. If problem persist despite all these . better to consult a dermatologist and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
