How Can Degenerative Spine Disease And Severe Arthritis Be Treated?

I am a 54 y/o woman with a chronic pain problem. I have been diagnosed with degenerative spine disease, and have a cervical fusion C4-6. also bulging discs L3-5. I have had traumatic injury to my upper back and Right shoulder, which occurred January 2010. My upper back and neck have frequent muscular spasms. I had a rotator cuff repair in 2012. I have had so much pain in my back, I have had a series of epidurals, radio frequency nerve ablations in 2015-16. I experienced very short lived relief. I have also recently had semi-joint implants in my big toes (March and May of 2016) due to severe arthritis. In the past year, my condition has gotten worse. I have muscular pain all over my body, especially in my calves. I have joint pain in my wrists and ankles. The worse pain is in my lower back / hip area. A few months ago, a doctor diagnosed me with sacroiliac joint disfunction and I got steroid injections under a fluoroscope. That helped me a great deal, but I still have problems climbing stairs, and have been unable to do any sort of cardio exercise. I do physical therapy in a warm water pool. My medical history includes a diagnosis of Interstitial Cystitis and Pelvic Floor disfunction and I believe this is connected. Is there a medical condition that involves all of these symptoms? Is there a specialist I should see? Thank you

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

The pain due to spinal problems can be managed with light physical therapy under water(as you are already doing along with nerve pain controller like Pregabalin. For joints you need to get investigated to know type of arthritis followed by specific management under a Rjrumatologist's care. At home front light massage with pain relievers (Pirox gel ) & hot pack would ease the problem.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
