Thanks for putting up your query over here.Usually the common cold or viral flu resolves by itsrlf within 2-3 days without antibiotics.But as you said you have Cough and cold with mucous secretion.Thick mucous secretions denotes bacterial infection and antibiotics are necessary in that case.Montair is anti allergic drug.Clavam is antibiotic which do have certain side effects like nausea,gastric upset.But they are less likely if taken along with PPIs like ompeprazole.Besides clavam,other antibiotics that can be used is azithromycin which has once daily dosing.You can discuss with your doctor about this. Besides following conservative measures will help, -Steam inhalation -Oral antihistaminics and nasal decongestants. -Avoid exposure to dust,pets other household allergens.
