How Can Constipation Be Treated While On Opioids For Chronic Pain?

Ok. Thanks. When a patient is taking opiate medication for chronic pain (CRPS Type 2) and has difficulty with constipation, is it better to fast a day or two with just water, or better to consume high fiber foods (such as fruits and vegetables) and whole grains?

include high fibre foods in your diet
you can also take fibre supplements available over the counter for constipation

opioids do have constipation as a side effects
if you are taking any iron supplements make sure you take with food so that it does not aggravate your constipation
include papaya or similar fruits in your diet at night

feel free to revert back with any follow up questions
