How Can Confusion And Memory Loss Be Treated?

I had an MRI today for confusion, memory loss and cognitive difficulties. I m a 45 yr old female with no history of diabetes, heart problems or high blood pressure. But I have had some head trauma over the past few years and many years ago, suffered from horrific migraines treated with Imitrex injections, although I haven t had one that severe in years. I also suffered a minor stroke over a decade ago which took a lot of work to get the right side of my face from sagging so much. The MRI results said that I had chronic micro vascular ischemic changes in the white matter of my brain. What does that mean? Can it be reversed?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Chronic microvascular ischemias mean that there are very tiny blood clots which have caused minute damages to the brain on and off.

In such cases, we generally recommend taking some blood-thinning drugs like baby Aspirin or Plavix so to avoid other minor clots.

Besides this, we also screen for nay cause like lipid problems or other there so to treat that as well.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
