How Can Complex Regional Pain Syndrome In The Right Arm Be Treated?

I have regional pain syndrome in right arm. Old WC injury. I was started on a new statin a week ago. Now my right arm is bluish again and in pain. I can feel cysts near my surgery site, from the ulnar entrap ment release done 13 years ago. My question is. Did a new statin start this, or this cyst problems and pain, weakness, swelling, stiff going to happen on it s own. So, does the arm need to go to Workers Compensation for review as case still open. Or do I go to doctor to see if statin and a 30 pound weight loss in 3 months started this.

Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The complex regional pain syndrome is a difficult condition to manage and pain fails to respond even with routine analgesics. You can take analgesics like Gabapentin which quite effective in this clinical condition and most of the patients will be benefited with Gabapentin. Statin can cause myopathy and you can try newer statins like Rosuvastatin, which is free of this particular side effects.

Wishing you good health.

Thanks.
