How Can Cold Ad Cough Along With Eye Infection Be Treated?

My 5 year old son has had cold/cough for a couple of months. He was on antibiotics for 10 days about a month ago. Seemed to get better for about a week but then came back. This morning he woke up and had trouble opening his eyes due to sticky eye along the length of both his eyelids. Not sure what it is.

Hello,

In my opinion, the cold/cough and eye infection are independent of each other. The cold and cough will improve with the oral antibiotics. I would advise antibiotic eye drops like Tobramycin for the eye. Additionally, try using a cloth dabbed in hot water with salt to sponge the eyes, twice daily.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pranav Balakrishnan
