How Can Chronic Retching Be Treated?

My sister has had chronic retching (dry heaves) and palsy of the 6th nerve (eye) last October, and was diagnosed yesterday with the palsy of the 3rd nerve (eye). The palsy of the 3rd nerve occurred simultaneously with retching/dry heaves, which she has lived with since August 2016 after spinal surgery. The retching started about a month after spinal surgery for stenosis, a cyst on her spinal joint, and herniation in July 2016. Prior to the surgery (Memorial Day 2016), she started falling. By the time she had surgery in July 2016, she would fall and no longer be able to get up. Prior to the surgery, we needed to call an ambulance service in order to take her to doctor appts. and pre-admission testing. She is now walking with a cane, but due to the palsy of the 6th nerve, her depth perception is impaired. She has had multiple tests post-surgery, but none of the doctors that she has gone to have been able to provide a diagnosis for the chronic retching. Since all of these symptoms occurred post spinal surgery, and started with a nerve issue, we think a nerve issue may still be the cause. The retching/dryheaves occurred on a daily basis sometimes for hours at a time since August 2016. She is also on medication for the dry heaves, but I do not recall the name. It helped reduce the retching for a short period, but did not cure the problem. Ginger tablets give a bit of relief, but does not cure the retching either. After being taken off metformin earlier this Fall, the retching has subsided a little (instead of every day) to once or twice every 4-days. We are at a total loss. She has gone to surgeon for follow-up, neurologist, hematologist, gastrologist, endocronologist, colon specialist and allergist and has had a multitude of tests including an MRI. She has only recently learned that the MRI done after surgery showed that she had either disc material or scare issue pressing on nerve. Any recommendations for a specialist or a test to be performed to help diagnosis these symptoms would be greatly appreciated. She has also lost her job due to her medical condition and recently was approved for long-term social security disability.
