Hi,I am Dr. Andrew Rynne (Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Do you have a quick fix for chronic pain from a fall at Denny s 2 1/2 yrs. ago? I broke my tail bone, T-10 and T-11 and nothing stops the pain. I am seeing a Chiropractor as of the last month or so and he has released some tense muscles, but I go to bed in pain and get up in pain. I am a redhead and am 82 yrs. old and was very active before this happened and now I sometimes don t feel like getting dressed to even go out to lunch. I slipped on a greasy floor at Denys. Cancel, I didn t know there was a charge for this!
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Tailbone fracture may cause pain in bone it may become chronic pain. Need to avoid sitting down for long periods of time. When seated, avoid sitting on hard surfaces and alternate sitting on each side of the buttocks. Also, lean forward and direct your weight away from the tailbone. For traumatic injuries, apply ice to the tailbone area for 15-20 minutes, four times a day, for the first few days after the injury. Use Ibuprofen or other NSAIDS for pain. You can purchase a "doughnut" cushion or pillow to sit on. This cushion has a hole in the middle to prevent the tailbone from contacting the flat surface. Eat foods high in fiber to soften stools and avoid constipation. If symptoms not improved please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu
