How Can Chronic Nose Bleeds Be Managed?

Hi. I have an 18 year old son who has for the past 6 months experienced chronic nose bleeds. He has about one to two a week. Often they occur in the middle of the night, but not always. There is a lot of blood. What should I do? Also, can vaping contribute to nose bleeds? Thank you, Karen

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Nose bleed can occur normally in this age group and will get well completely with time or it could be a sign of an underlying problem. It can be normal in your son or there may be platelet deficiency or some other underlying cause like platelet deficiency or dysfunction or local nasal cause. Visit your ENT doctor who will examine your child and may do some tests.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr Imran Zeb
