How Can Chronic Insomnia And Fatigue Be Treated?

Ok, So i haven t been able to fall asleep for the past 5 days. I don t know what is going on. I have never had this happened before. I am very tired, I go to bed at 9:30, and I wake up at 6:00 am. I haven t had an increase in stress. I just lay in bed, not being able to fall asleep. I don t get out of bed, I don t get on my phone, i just try and fall asleep. Since this has happened, I have recently developed headaches (no duh, i m not sleeping) and have recently developed random gagging with bile filling the mouth. I haven t actually thrown up yet, I have tried, to just see if its some weird stomach bug, and to get everything out, but its not working. To make this even more interesting, there is a girl in my high school class who has the exact same symptoms. We both have trouble walking in a straight line, and our handwriting has gotten significantly worse (Never had consumption) I don t know about her, but I take Zoloft, and I have for about a year and a half. I am starting to get scared, because I really need my sleep and its starting to affect my social life, and school life. Any thoughts?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Well, insomnia may be difficult to treat, but there are some methods which can be used. Treatment options include behavior and lifestyle changes, medicines, and complementary medicines. You need to change your dietary habits and these include changing your sleep area or schedule, watching what and when you eat and drink, and being more active. It's also important to keep regular bedtimes and wake times-7 days a week-and to try to avoid taking naps during the day. Prescription sleep medicines may also help and include Diazepam and similar medications. Melatonin is supplement which may be of help as well. In severe cases special testing is needed.

I hope I have answered you query. If you have any further questions you can contact us in every time. Wish you a good health.
